Pen Air Federal Credit Union Fiesta Day Parade

This is the first time we went to Pen Air Federal Credit Union Fiesta Day Parade. It is a wonderfully fun parade that is part of the Fiesta of Five Flags. The parade was very impressive. And there was such a feeling of festivity in the air.

Our vantage point was perfect. We dined on the balcony of Will Call. The beginning was a little miserable...the sun was beating down on us. But before long it went down behind the buildings across the street and it was perfect.

Here is a balcony view of the street about an hour before the parade was to start.

We met these sweet girls on the balcony of Will Call while waiting for the start of the parade. It was all a little crazy, what with the $2 wine happy hour. But, to the best of my recollection, they are roommates. And they have been for 5 years. But they said they are polar opposites, and that is why they get along so good.

Jenny, we believe, is living our mirror life. She has St. Louis connections, has lived in Tallahassee, and moved here from St. Augustine. Kristina is here from Louisville. They both know our favorite waitress at O'Zones...Kim. So. It is a small world. They agreed to be part of my 100 Strangers project.

While waiting for the parade, I just took some pictures from the balcony.

Then, here came the parade. It started with a band of policemen on motorcycles. They stopped in front of us and got off their bikes. I was wondering what in the world they would do. Well...they started throwing beads to the crowd!!!

The rest of the parade followed, with floats, clowns, bands and all the parade fare. Including much bead throwing. As a matter of fact, I got hit in the face with a whole bag of beads...I was looking down at something and it came out of left field. It hit my glasses, and for an instant I thought it broke my glasses and went in my eye. It was such an intense impact. But, no damage done.
