Spring Break 2009 {Part 1 of 3}

On the way back to Pensacola from Fairhope, Alabama, we went through a sleepy little town of Magnolia Springs. A few years ago we stayed at this Bed & Breakfast. It was such fun!

I did say it was a sleepy little town, didn't I? The following picture is a beautiful canopied street in Magnolia Springs. As a matter of fact, it is the main road. I stood in the middle of the street to take this picture. I was there for about 5 minutes, at least. During that time, not one car came by. Sweet.

There was free parking in Magnolia Springs. Yes, Sir.

Finally we got back to Pensacola. We rested up a bit then went to the Fish House for dinner.

57th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival {Part 1 of 3}

We decided to take advantage of the fact that we were in Pensacola during the 57th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival in Fairhope, Alabama. Oh, my. What a sweet little town. When we lived in Gulf Breeze, we made it over there for the festival once. So we decided to go again.

Of course, there was arts & crafts.

Pensacola Beach! {Part 1 of 2}

Over D's spring break, we went to Penascola. Lucky for us that also involves Pensacola Beach. Only the absolutely most beautiful beach in the world. And I can say that with confidence, as I am a beach connoisseur. The sand is soft and sugar white. It makes little squeeky music when you walk on it. The water is clear blue, green, turquoise and aqua. The first thing you will see, pointing the way to the beach, is the world famous Pensacola Beach Sign. An icon.

"Life is good at the beach!"

In the beach parking lot, you will be greeted by the Pensacola Beach watertower...aka the 'beach ball'. Another icon.

The Church, the College and other bits of the day {Part 1 of 3}

Once again D was in class and dropped me off. I wanted to tour Flaggler College, but missed the tour for that day. Maybe next time. I did get some photos of what I could, then moved on to a church.

Let's start with the Memorial Presbyterian Church.

I'm sure there is a word for what this is...I just don't know it. It's in the church courtyard.

These flowers were also in the courtyard. Such a pretty and serene place.

Then I went inside. So quiet and beautiful. I loved the peaceful feeling a person gets in an empty church. Cool. Shadows. Stained glass. Lovely.

The next two pictures were from Flagler College. Aren't these flowers just the happiest little things you've seen in a long time? I smile each time I look at this picture.

I then just started walking. Soon I found myself in Lincolnville. And I walked and walked. There I found this plaque:

This was the house behind the plaque. I'm sure it was in one of these rooms that he slept.
