Maiden voyage

This morning I finally felt well enough to take my old-new Phat Cycle. As an early Mother's Day present, Nikki gave my bike a makeover. A new seat, grips, chain, basket, painted handlebars, and a general touch up. I finally am over the plague from last week and got to take it out for a spin!!!

The best thing about riding a bike? The slowness of it. Everything is revealed to you as you peddle by. Leaves. Flowers. Porches. Birds.

And the very best thing? The sweet, heavy scent of all the blooming spring flowers that fill the air. It was unbelievable!! Every turn had a new sweetness.

"Maybe it was true, and being a girl could be about interest rates and skinny jeans, riding bikes and wearing pink. Not about any one thing, but everything."

Then you must teach my daughter this same lesson.

A brilliant wonderful sunny day at the beach. It was our first 'official' beach day of the season. One of those days that the salt water air replenished your soul.

In all of that soul replenishing, I neglected to put on sun screen. I do this the first trip out each year. One would think I would learn. Maybe next year.

"Then you must teach my daughter this same lesson. How to lose your innocence but not your hope. How to laugh forever."

Honeygun on the beach

This Friday evening we went to the beach, by the pier, to listen to Honeygun. It's a new band, and really good. I work with one of the band members...Eric.

We were there with a few other co-workers. It was simply a perfect evening. The humidity was under control, and there was a sweet breeze.

... and I go to the mailbox.

A yearly trip, like pilgrims to the holy land, we went to the Fairhope Art Festival. A festival to end all festivals. A marvel of festivals. Did I buy anything? Do I EVER buy anything? no. But we go. None the less.

It is merely an opportunity to take pictures. And people watch. And enjoy the beautiful day.

Spring at my house...

Spring. The perfume in the air is heady. And intoxicating. I love walking through my yard and looking at all the freshness everywhere. These were all taken today, in my yard. Lucky me.
