Beachy {Part 1 of 2}

One morning I took off for the beach. It's been awhile (I'm behind with my photos.) But now that I think about it, I was trying to get out in the morning, but it turned out more high noon. And it was HOT! I spent much of my time in the shade under the pier. But, I will start with one little image from our first Bands on the Beach. How cool it is that every Tuesday from May through September the Santa Rosa Island Authority offers this for free? I'll tell you how cool. Very.

Those ladies had the cutest picnic basket. We learned that you must bring baskets of food and jugs full of yummy drinks to this event.

Now I'm showing pics from my little beach trip. I love the people. They are everywhere and happy and having fun. It is a huge beach party everyday!

Before I left I went to the pavilion to sit in the shade for a bit. There were a few others seeking relief from the sun, and one was this fellow playing his guitar.

The next picture wasn't on the beach at all, but taken in Pensacola on the way into the Sam's store. I guess it is the Sam's Pelican. It seems there are these pelicans all over Pensacola. I plan to photograph them all. This shot isn't so good, so I'm going back one day to take it again. When I got out of the car, which was air conditioned, and stepped into the hot air on the parking lot, my big old 85mm lens fogged up like crazy, so I just took the shot the best I could through the lens fog. D was moving on and I had to catch up with him.

Blue Angels {Part 1 of 3}

The Blue Angel weekend is huge in Pensacola. This is their hometown, and the people of Pensacola support them as their hometown boys. It is a heartwarming and and awesome event to witness. We did not go to Pensacola Beach for the show. Instead we watched from our little beach. And, joy of joys, they flew right overhead several times. It gives you goosebumps. At least it did me. Here are some photos from this great time. The day was overcast and hazy so they images reflect that. But, I still love them.

This group of people walked out on the dock to watch the show. And they enjoyed it...as we all did.

Fat Albert is always the opening act for the angels. This plane got it's name with good reason. It is HUGE!! The first photo is when he flew by us towards the beach, and the next one is when he flew low over the beach for the awaiting crowds. See how low he is in comparison to the buildings?

More of a walk along the beach and a new Farmers' Market!! {Part 1 of 7}

Here are some more pictures of a walk on the beach. I love how warm the water is! And how soothing for the soul the walk is.

Can you tell that I love the hermit crabs? They tickle me beyond belief. They have gatherings (shoots the hermit theory doesn't it?) and can scoot around like crazy. I especially love the ones in the old crusty conch shells that have barnacles. And I covet the ones that have the beautiful shells that would look simply marvelous on my window sill. How does one convince a hermit crab to vacate their shell for another?

A walk

One of the most completely, simply, totally awesome things about where we live now, is in the mornings I can get up, put on my clothes (forget the shoes) stroll out of my garage right onto the beach...and then walk. Not only is it a sweet private beach, but about 1/4 mile up the beach is the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It is completely undeveloped and wild. Quiet and beautiful.

Anyway, these are photos from one of those walks.

Up by the Bay

This has been a time of getting settled in. And exploring here and there. This particular morning we were close to the Bay waiting for Jambalaya's to open. (BTW, this is not a place I will eat at again.) But, the wait was beautiful. The water was calm but there was a gentle breeze.
