The Keys::Day 2::More of Hemingway's House
Here are more photos from the Hemingway house. From inside and out. The next one is from inside looking out. His bathroom. Lovely view.
"...ever since she could remember, that she was very, very near to a world of wonderful beauty. Between it and herself hung only a thin curtain..." ¸.•*´¨`♥ L.M. Montgomery (Emily of New Moon) |
This pool I believe was the demise of of of Hemingway's many marriages. His wife had it installed while he was away in Europe doing 'interviews' with a woman writer. The pool cost more than the house it's self, and took ages to dig.
One night Hemingway came home with a urinal from the original Sloppy Joe's Bar. He placed it in the garden and said it will stay there. His wife was mortified. To ease her pain, she had it tiled and displayed as part of a fountain with this beautiful olive jar.
Part of the garden walk.
This hat was in the kitchen on top of an old refrigerator. Was it really his? Did he wear it? I want to think yes. Yes it was his. And yes. It sat on top of his head keeping the sun out of his eyes on long walks on the shoreline.
And this was his shower. Hemingway's shower. Just let that soak in for awhile.
A book that was in his private collection. I knew there was some sort of bond between he and I. We both aspire to become great photographers.
And these last two images are cats from the grounds. They just stay there. And live a happy little life. In a happy little house. They own the house now.
