A Concert!

What a great weekend! Go, go, go yesterday. Then today we chilled out! Wonderful. So here is how it went.

First, I took some early morning pictures of the city from the parking garage at work. Best part of the day...it went quickly downhill after that.

Then work was over and the weekend began. Saturday had all sorts of action. It began with breakfast on the way to a destination. This dining establishment was new to us, but not new by any stretch of the imagination. When we passed by it, I shouted, "Let's eat there!" It was a block from the ocean. So, it had the beachy casual feel. To a fault. It was crusty. It had all the windows open. All doors open. No screens. A dog was laying on the cab of a truck parked in front of the cafe, looking in the cafe at his owner. It was 9:30 AM, and this was a conversation heard behind us. "Would you like a beer with that?" "Sure, why not." D is not one to frequent such dives. I, on the other hand, have a cast iron stomach, so I'm fool-hearty. (Nikki and I have eaten tacos in Tijuana, Mexico from a Guatemalan that brought said tacos out of an alley. Obviously we don't give much thought to our intestinal well being.) I told D it would give him character. I'm sorry to say, the food was not good. (Unlike the alley tacos...some of the best I ever had.) But, you have to take chances.

After we dined, and I use the term loosely, we headed on down the road (A1A) until we got to Fort Matanzas National Monument.

There is a ferry that takes people over to Rattlesnake Island where the fort is. But, when we were there, it was on a some sort of delay, so we didn't make it to the fort. But, we did see it from the dock.

After enjoying the morning at the park, we went home. And we got ready for The Steve Miller Band concert! It was at the amphitheater in St. Augustine. What a great crowd and lovely night for a concert.

Laid back Sunday

A little ride into St. Augustine for breakfast. Have I ever shared that I dislike cooking breakfast on most days? Too many dirty dishes too early in the morning. Occasionally I will do pancakes or waffles on a Sunday morning. Occasionally. This Sunday was not that occasion.

Here is our dog. He must not like the publicity, because he will never look at me when I have my camera. This is about the best I can do...short of dangling a steak over my head.

The day started with coffee. Ended with wine. (This particular glass of wine is

Veggie Shopping

After work today I went to the Farmers Market in Jacksonville to pick up some veggies. This market is all about business. Nothing crafty going on here. Don't even think about it. So, I suppose it is a good thing I was in the market for a few veggies. My haul? Potatoes, 2 bunches of asparagus, several cloves of garlic, a bag of onions, and 2 bunches of bananas.

This first picture pretty much sums up the neighborhood I have to go through to get to the market. You have to be a die-hard farmer's market shopper to go to this one.

You guessed it....St. Augustine

Have I expressed my growing love for St. Auggie? Yes? Well, I won't bore you to tears with how each little street, every doorway, fence, bridge and home makes me smile. No. I won't. But, I will show you some more pictures.

There is work being done on the Bridge of Lions. The wall that was built in the river/sound amazes me.

These are from the sweetest little farmers market on the east coast. Quite possibly, the sweetest this side of the Mississippi. I'll stop now.
