Beach Road Chicken Dinners

What is better than a home fried chicken dinner on Sunday? I'll tell you what. When someone else fries it! They bring out a platter of crispy fried chicken, bowls of creamy cole slaw, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed peas and biscuits with butter and honey. I now know why Southern Living voted them the best fried chicken in the south. The Washington Post even did an article on them.

Blue Crab Festival

This weekend was the Blue Crab Festival at Palatka, Florida. I have a feeling that most of the year this is a sleepy little town. But, not so for the Blue Crab Festival!

They said it all

There were beautiful old buildings.

City Hall

Church

Statue

Whimsy flower boxes

Great river views

Band on the river

Cooling in the river

Festival dancers

All kinds of hand crafts

Then there was my favorite part of any festival...the people.

The Angel of Truth

I'm sorry for stalking you

Capt'n Jack Sparrow??!!!

Even pooches came to the festival

And, if you've made it this far, I have a little game for you. What does this tattoo say?

Gulf Breeze / Pensacola Beach

We took a trip to Gulf Breeze...our old stomping ground. It was a strange trip. I was partly sick and drugged up on Niquil. It was just bizarre., seeing someplace for the first time in 6 years, and there's been a devastating hurricane in the interim. It created a surreal experience. Plus, the weather was not cooperating. Not the usual beautiful days I remember. But, I did manage to get a few shots.

Another important sign

This is the dock that D proposed to me on bended knee so many years ago. We were at the very end. Of course, the hurricane destroyed that very dock, but they rebuilt it.
