What my Friday Morning was like

This morning was all about relaxing. First I did a little yoga from a cute book I recently bought... A Morning Cup of Yoga. It was a great morning stretch. Then I enjoyed my morning Frappé. I was introduced to the wonderfully refreshing drink by my daughter who was working at a Greek restaurant at the time. (Agean Breeze. Owned by Stavros...a loveable chef.) About the time I was finishing up my icy drink, D woke up. He had a rough night. It stormed and apparently raised cain and Petey (our dog) gets very nervous during storms. D took pity on him (and me) and sat with him in the living room so I could sleep. Which I did...like a rock. Anyway, when he got up he said I should just go to the beach by myself today. He didn't feel like it. So, I did.

The beach was wild today. The ocean was churning from the storm that passed through. Huge waves. Water going in, out and sideways at the same time. Wild.

These are happy toes!

Look how wild the ocean is.

Even the sky had a wildness.

Here is a video with sounds of the ocean. I'm trying to get this to load in my sidebar. Right now it is there, but it has a drawing of a camera until you click to play it. I hope that is an over site on YouTube's part, and they will correct it as soon as they realize the error :-) Look how deserted it was today! The waves were crashing, and the waves were going in, out and sideways. Bizarre.

After I came home and showered, we went to Olive Garden for lunch. I LOVE their Pasta e Fagioli. Of course, I ate too much. Which, coupled with a couple hours of walking the beach earlier, I got very sleepy. When we got home I napped. Love the afternoon naps!

Beachless Week or Tattoo Intro

For reasons only know to God, I haven't made it to the beach yet this weekend. Other things kept popping up.

Like yesterday. We got up and had a bagel at Panera's, strolled up to Publix for a few items, stopped in an interior decorating showcase for a developer in the area, then scurried back home for a quiet day. A nap was involved, and a biscuit and sausage gravy supper. In the evening we watched a movie, Men With Brooms, which was surprisingly good. (A shout out to my Canadian son-in-law!) After the movie I designed the spiffy new header that my blog is sporting!! It is my new clean zen look. With complimentary matching favicon. For those of you that don't know what a favicon is, it is the little 16x16px image on the address bar and the tab. Anyway, I like it. And I love doing things like that.

Today I just did odd things around the house. Re-arranging items under the bathroom sink, which led to cleaning the bathroom. I was sent to T.J.Maxx for a pillow to replace a much loved (and worn out) one of D's. I spent way too long there, but enjoyed myself. Purchases:

  1. Two Butter Bells (one for me and one for Nikki)
  2. Pillow for D (too firm...going back)
  3. Pair of really cute Borne Shoes which D doesn't like and I'll probably take back. But, it was an awesome deal...$20! Aren't those just the cutest?
  4. and a little enamel cast iron skillet that D doesn't know about yet. shhhhh I have been looking at these for ages...today was the day. it will probably go back too. sigh.

Then home again. I scoured eBay for a Treo 680, when I discovered I don't have PayPal set up. Which led me to PayPal business.

Tomorrow I have to go to the dentist. So, I don't think a trip to the beach will happen. Then I work the next three days. I'm holding hope for next Friday.

That leads to this post. No beach pictures. But, I have a couple of pictures from my tattoo collection that I will post in this beachless emergency. The tattoo craze in Jacksonville amazes me. It seems that to be a resident here one of the prerequisites is to get a tattoo. Old and young. Fat and skinny. Wrinkled and firm. There is nothing sacred. So, I started taking a few shots...discreetly of course. These are the first in my collection. There will be more to come. Believe me...

A Wednesday at the Beach

No, I'm not playing hooky. All my friends and family know that I never play hooky. No, really! This was my first week of starting my new 12 hour shifts. Translated...I'm off 4 days a week. Yeah. That's right. Four fun filled days in sunny Florida! So, we took the show to the beach. (Bet you couldn't figure that out.) Sooooo laid back. Not so many people. And the beach was lovely as usual.

The people may have been sparse, but the machinery abounded. Shrimp boats and planes...oh my. So I took pictures.

And today was the best shelling day. The beach was overflowing with wonderful finds. Drew kept asking me...are you taking all those home? hmmm. yup.

Is that a shrimp boat?

Why, yes, it is!

Awww...there it goes.

Yes! It is a starfish!!

The beach

It' a bird...?

It's a plane...

It's Superman. No. It's a plane.

Labor Day Weekend

Ahhhh...the lovely three day weekend. It is what every red-blooded American works for. So, with that in mind, the weekend was already off to a good start before anything actually happened. It was a great day at the beach. Even though it was overcast most of the time, and the water was really churned up to a murky brown-gray color. Like I said...three day weekend!

Before we go up the boardwalk to the beach, I wanted to say congratulations to my friend, Barb, on her new grandson. It is her fifth!! She is way too pretty and way too young looking to have a grandchild, let alone five. What a wonderful addition to her family.

On to the beach. This weekend we went further up (or down as the case may be) the coast to the next beach in the national park. This one had more shells, which I loved.

Jungle path

This boardwalk went through some dense vegetation and opened up to a clearing where we crossed the highway and started up another boardwalk.

Then down to the beach

Lots of deserted beach

This little fellow got scared and ran sideways all the way into the ocean.

Long wave

Look how brown the wave is. Not the usual pretty blue. Still pretty. Just not blue!

Mid break

Solitude

Not such a good picture, but it was our dolphin sighting!

The trio

Look at the blue blue water on the horizon. Only place it was blue today.

For my beach hat collection

Who knew that the seeds of a magnolia tree was red??? Not me!

A bit of red

This plant kept poking me when I was trying to get a picture of the magnolia seeds.
