Lovely Sunday

It was another scorcher today. Even though we had a great breeze off the ocean, I still got very hot, and tired out quickly.

The day was clear and blue. We returned to the State Park because it is so much more serene there.

I missed going last week. Glad we made it this week. It centers me and keeps me on track. Even in the stifling heat. Nothing a dip in the ocean can't cure.

Our Sunday Thing

We went to a new beach today. A more secluded, natural one. I absolutely loved it. And so did Drew. Not as much people watching, but more relaxing.

The sign

The parking was across the highway, but since traffic is light on that stretch, no problem. There was a nice little boardwalk leading to the beach.

Start here and hang a left...

Follow the gentle curve...

To reveal this!

This day belonged to the waves. Everything else took a back seat. I did the journalist thing and got right in the midst of it to get the best shot. A little tricky since my camera is not waterproof. So, here they are!

The dunes here were huge and full of vegetation. Succulents...according to a discussion of tourists I passed. I won't say yes and I won't say no. Just vegetation in my book.

Can we go to the Sea?

A little boy walking by us towards the water looked up at his daddy and asked him if they could go to the sea. So sweet. So serious. And obviously going to the sea.

Like always it was a perfect day. A little breeze, warm, sunny. Tide was out when we arrived, so shelling was excellent.

We didn't stop at Publix for our sub sandwich. We brought a bag of cut watermelon to keep us happy. And it did. Nothing like fresh fruit at the beach. Seems right. Natural. Feeling a little earthy right now. It could due to the fruit and the beach. Or it could be my new experiment with beach hair. The deal is after going in the ocean, apply a leave-in conditioner after combing hair with a wide tooth comb. Don't wash out when you get home. I'm sitting here with a salty head. Don't know exactly how I feel about that yet. Earthy for sure. Well, it is all the rage, you know.

Was I scared? Oh yeah.

Against a blue sky

I love to see the beach hat fashions. Almost as much as strolling up and down the beach looking for the perfect shell (Which, by the way, I have yet to find.) Beach hats are fun and functional. So, here is a study in beach hats...

Strolling through St. Augustine

Today we were strictly tourists. In our own town. At one point I even told Drew that when we move to Florida, I would like to get clothes like this. Sometimes I just don't know what I'm talking about.

It was hot today. Pushing 95 degrees and climbing, but we got an early start, and Drew was a real champ. He strolled at a steady pace, and I fluttered up and down the roads, all around him. Much like a fruit fly.

Here are the pictures I took of the day. We didn't get to see everything, of course, but I hope to see different areas next time.
